Bonjour Canada! - Solo travels (Afterthoughts)

A short post on some thoughts i had about my trip to Canada, and my solo travelling.

Canada is a truly beautiful country. I think i'll never forget the beautiful maple trees, the wonderful Ottawa River and Rideau River, the spectacular Notre Dame Basilica and Parliament Hill, as well as the pretty snowflakes falling over the river and accumulating on the grounds. I also enjoyed the company of Canadians, and i didnt feel lonely at all while travelling on my own.

Some people may have qualms about solo travelling, that it's not safe or do not want to try as it is much more fun to travel with your loved ones. For one, i also had my reservations initially when i decide to solo travel on this journey, since i've never been to Canada before and had no one to rely on if i were to get lost or meet any trouble. H/e what's life without some risk-taking? Eventually i decided that it's better to just take the leap of faith! After all, im not doing bungee-jumping or any risky activities, right?

Some thoughts i had after trying out solo travelling:

i. Travelling on your own means you can plan to go wherever you want, and also linger longer at places you like, take photos for as long as you like without having your companion(s) to wait for you.

ii. You may also discover wonderful sights when you wonder by yourself aimlessly, such as the recreational pathway i saw along the Rideau River on my 6th day.

iii. People are nicer to you, and pay more attention to you when you're alone. Of course, this can be good or bad, as you may attract the wrong attention! H/e, Canada was a very safe place, and as long as you keep a lookout, you should be fine.

iv. Lotsa time for self reflection. It's almost like you can take a stock-take of your life thus far while you're alone, and to cherish all that you have. It's wonderful to spend time with yourself.

This is my first experience at solo travelling. The only precautions i can think of would be to keep a lookout for any danger, esp for girls. Don't stray into dark areas, and try not to go nightspots when you're alone. Also, don't bring too much cash on you, and leave your valuables in the hotel.

Yup, this is the end of my posts on Canada.

Although i dont see myself coming back to Canada anytime soon, i'd truly hope that i'd have a chance to come here again, to visit the eastern part of Canada, such as Toronto and Vancouver. And also, to visit the famous Nigeria Falls. Till then, ciaos to Canada~
